Subtle toasted notes on the nose, almost tarry, wild berries, peppery-slate notes. On the palate, generous and polished, silky and intensely mineral, tightly knit with fine tannins and a tactile minerality. Nice extraction, immense and elegantly staged. Terroir and quality!

The Dernau 2019 Spätburgunder Blauschiefer opens with a deep, wild and spicy bouquet of perfectly ripe dark cherries and berries along with crystalline slate aromas. Pure, fresh and stimulatingly salty on the palate, this Spätburgunder (a.k.a. Pinot Noir) is silky textured, lush and generous but precise and stimulatingly salty and tannic on the clean and fresh finish. A gorgeous medium-weight red wine from great Dernau terroirs. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork.
