De meest recente toevoeging aan het weergaloze repertoire van Blank Canvas. 'Tano' is een eerbetoon aan Gaetano ‘Tano’ Tobin, een goede vriend en mentor van Matt Thomson, eigenaar en wijnmaker van Blank Canvas. Tano was tot zijn recente overlijden een beeldbepalende figuur in de Italiaanse wijnregio Soave, waar hij samen met Matt meer dan 20 jaar lang wijn maakte. Tano refereerde aan de beste cru's uit Soave als de Chablis van Italië en het is precies op deze befaamde wijnregio dat de Tano Chardonnay is geïnspireerd.
Afkomstig van de Annandale Farm Vineyard in Blind River, een extreem koele subregio aan de kust van Marlborough. Spontaan vergist op één groot vat van 2.500 liter, goed voor slechts 3.300 flessen van een wijn met een adembenemende puurheid van expressie. Waar de Reed Chardonnay van Blank Canvas een wijn is om vol ontzag van te genieten is Tano een wijn om stilletjes bij te mijmeren. Eerste jaargang van een schaarse wijn met een grote toekomst, dat heet een collector's item.
