Vinous schrijft dit jaar: "I continue to be impressed with Caiarossa. The wines have improved markedly in recent years".
"Here we have Bordelais graphite and cedar and Tuscan lavender and rosemary" schrijft The Drinks Business (97 punten). Diezelfde Drinks Business schrijft: "it’s the more ethereal and aerial notes – from the Cabernet Franc above all – that make this special".
Betoverende balans
The purity and clarity is impressive, and the balance is superb."

(Toscana IGT Rosso; 20% Syrah; 34% Cabernet Franc; 15% Cabernet Sauvignon; 9.5% Merlot; 12% Petit Verdot; 8% Sangiovese; 1.5% Grenache; pH 3.76; 14% alcohol; certified organic; tasted over Zoom with Jérôme Poisson and then at the hors Bordeaux press tasting at Joanne). A big step up in quality from the already impressive Aria, with a lot more finesse and elegance. Here we have Bordelais graphite and cedar and Tuscan lavender and rosemary gentle enrobing the plump, plush red and darker berry fruits. The Syrah brings additional concentration and a hint of game and charcuterie, but it’s the more ethereal and aerial notes – from the Cabernet Franc above all – that make this special. Juicy, fresh, bright and succulent, yet dense, intense and compact with that perfectly ripe dark berry fruit strapped very close to the spine. There’s a natural sweetness to the mid-palate that indicates the heat and sunshine of the summer, but also a lovely more subtle delicacy that is reassuringly classy and augurs a long and accomplished future.

Intense, brilliant ruby red with violet highlights. Impressive on the nose, with plenty of dark, ripe fruit reminiscent of blackberry and black cherry, followed by mint, a hint of cigar box, and fine wood. Powerful and well-balanced on the palate, again with impressive fruit concentration and sweet tannins, harmonious acidity, and a long, silky finish.

The 2023 Caiarossa is a powerful, brooding wine. A blast of dark blue/purplish fruit, gravel, incense, new leather and licorice makes a strong opening statement. Readers should be prepared to cellar the 2023 for at least a few years, as the tannins are rather imposing today. This is an especially somber Caiarossa.

Caiarossa 2023 opens with an earthy, woodland berry fragrance which leads into a tight, vertical palate. It's clearly still very young as it's not giving too much away, but it promises some fleshiness as it unfolds. The purity and clarity is impressive, and the balance is superb. Caiarossa's flagship wine is not your typical Tuscan Bordeaux blend. In fact, it's not a Bordeaux blend at all. The main components in the blend are Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon, but it also incorporates smaller percentages of Merlot, Sangiovese, Petit Verdot and Grenache.

The 2023 Caiarossa, the estate’s flagship wine, is a blend of 34% Cabernet Franc, 20% Syrah, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Petit Verdot, 9% Merlot, 8% Sangiovese, and a splash of Grenache. Full-bodied, it carries a sense of finesse with a weightless feel. The nose delivers notes of plum, dark stones, black pepper, sweet Mediterranean herbs, and lavender, with a cooler, forest-toned profile. On the palate, it has a velvety, coating texture with good definition and balance, offering richness without heaviness. Drink 2027-2047.

A smoky and toasty wine with aromas of straw, licorice and vibrant dark fruit. Medium-bodied and supple, with firm, chalky tannins, a slightly lifted palate and a warming, austere finish. Drink or hold.
