Juicy and steady with firm tannins, which are lively and crunchy. Medium- to full-bodied. Some fruity succulence at the end.

90/100 punten
Smoky oak notes up front, powerful black cherry and damson fruits, clearly at far end of ripe, enjoyable, has plenty of Lalande signature in being an early drinking generous wine, a touch drying on the finish through with a flash of heat. 25% new oak.

Perfumed and intensely aromatic on the nose. Dense and concentrated, tannins are ripe and full but stop short of being too plush or weighty in the mouth. Cool blue fruits join soft acidity to give a round, serious feeling on the palate with liquorice, cedar and clove spiced edges. Feels well worked with mineral touches that are appealing. In a calm phase, quiet but confident with hints of juiciness and savouriness adding to the whole. A touch dry on the finish, the tannins just making the final impression but lots to like here. 3.8pH. 80% Merlot; 10% Cabernet Franc; 10% Cabernet Sauvignon; 13.5% alcohol; Benoit Trocard). Rather Clos Dubreuil in style - quite a lot of oak but it’s well-integrated; classy, with crushed petals and pot pourri alongside the pulpy plum and berry fruit – notably, raspberry. A little hint of incense too. This is somewhat more burly on the palate, with the iron-minerality breaking through. Big, if not in fact that dense. Grippy, crumbly, chewy tannins. Good value with lots of character.
