Château La Fleur-Pétrus behoort tot de top van Pomerol en is een van de kroonjuwelen van de familie Moueix. De wijngaard ligt op het beroemde plateau van Pomerol, tussen Château Lafleur en Château Pétrus, op een terroir van grind, klei en ijzerhoudende ondergrond dat garant staat voor elegante maar krachtige Merlot-wijnen. Sinds de uitbreiding van het domein (met percelen van Château Guillot en La Fleur-Pétrus Clinet) is de complexiteit en consistentie van de wijn alleen maar toegenomen. De jaargang 2024 in Bordeaux kenmerkt zich door precisie, frisheid en een mooie balans tussen rijpheid en structuur. La Fleur-Pétrus 2024 zal naar verwachting florale en verfijnde aroma’s tonen – denk aan viooltjes, kersen en moerbei – met onderliggende kruidigheid, ceder en subtiele minerale accenten. De textuur is zijdeachtig, de tannines rijp en gepolijst, met een indrukwekkend gelaagd middenpalet en een lange, harmonieuze afdronk. Deze wijn biedt zowel vroege charme als groot bewaarpotentieel.

Gently toasted cedar and sandalwood, violet, lilac, powdery rose, plush fruits, savoury in the spirit of the vintage but with texture and even generosity, and velvety tannins. A great job from La Fleur-Petrus, seriously impressive and one to look out for - my wine of the Moueix stable in 2024. 50% new oak. Harvest 17 to 28 September, no chaptilisation, around 20% down on yield from a usual year.

On the floral side, with chocolate-coated black raspberries, espresso, and cherry aromatics that are all over the place. Soft, and refined, the fruits are sweet, and polished, with more of those chocolatey black raspberries in the vibrant finish. You can enjoy this with pleasure with only a few years in the cellar. But give it a few more years if you want all those secondary notes to develop, and this will be just great in your glass. The wine blends 99.5% Merlot, and .05 Petit Verdot. The harvest took place September 17 - September 28. Drink from 2029-2045.

The 2024 La Fleur-Pétrus is such a gorgeous wine. Sensual and inviting, the 2024 is impressive from the very first taste. Floral and spice aromatics resonate on the palate, where the wine is layered and delicate without sacrificing depth. The 2024 really builds from the mid-palate and into the finish, showing terrific persistence and fine overall harmony.

The 2024 La Fleur-Pétrus was picked from September 17 to 28 and aged in 50% new oak. This does not have the amplitude or complexity of the Trotanoy on the nose and it's green around the edges. The palate is medium-bodied and lightly spiced, with supple tannins and a dash of black pepper and tobacco. The finish demonstrates decent weight and character for the vintage. I appreciate the aftertaste here that lingers in the mouth. This is capable!
