Very polished and focused this year with blackberry and blueberry character, as well as blackcurrants. Medium body. Fine tannins. Lovely length.

The ruby/plum-hued 2022 Château Latour-Martillac offers up a smoking good bouquet of ripe currants, cassis, and assorted blue fruits as well as some classic Graves chocolate, scorched earth, and floral notes. Full-bodied, rich, and textured, it has lots of ripeness yet never goes over the top and stays balanced and lively.

Deeply colored, initially you notice, dried roses, blackberries, black cherries, cocoa, pepper, and 5 spice on the nose. On the palate, the medium-bodied wine is packed with layers of creamy, elegant, ripe, dark, red fruits with hints of pepper and even some cocoa that comes in at the end of the long, plummy finish. This should age quite nice well, yet be approachable young. The wine blends 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot and 8% Petit Verdot.

Juicy and rich, this is quit concentrated and intense, with dark ripe fruits. I like the intensity here, it's dark and ripe but remains clean and crystalline with lovely purity of fruit despite being dense. Less immediately appealing than some, but this is so slick and charming, creamy, well built with freshness and a sense of definition that is lovely. Still quite compact with liquorice tang but it's good, juicy, serious. Mineral too. Slightly lean, but the tannins really work here and there is such concentration in the fruit that you know they haven't over extracted. A yield of 42hl/ha.

Deep dark ruby garnet colour with opaque core and purple reflections, delicate brightening on the rim. Subtle noble oak savouriness, blackberries, black cherries, inviting bouquet. Juicy, elegant, heart cherries, good freshness, mineral and balanced, a fine, versatile food wine

A blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot and 8% Petit Verdot, the 2022 Latour Martillac displays aromas of cassis, blueberry, raspberry, licorice, menthol, iris and violet. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is perfectly balanced, fleshy in the mid-palate and seamless with a moderately concentrated and elegant texture. The new winery allows for more accuracy during the winemaking process, and it is noticeable.

The 2022 Latour-Martillac has a slightly riper nose than its peers: candied berry fruit, orange rind, light loamy aromas percolating through with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with quite thickly-textured tannins, weighty and powerful with cedar and mocha-infused black fruit on the assertive finish. It lacks a bit of finesse now, but I can see this surprising a few people with the wherewithal to cellar for a decade.

On point with the vintage in its dark spiced character, muscular tannins, depths of blueberry, black cherry, bilberry, cocoa bean, liquorice root. Plenty of deft and sleek Pessac Léognan personality, lovely balance, well textured with grip, flashes of heat. Not as effortless a the 2019 or 2020 vintage at this estate, but this is hard to argue with.

Mid purplish crimson. Fragrant, almost floral and appealing on the nose. Mouth-filling and lifted with excellent balance. Pure Graves with an attractive stony quality on the refreshing finish. You would never guess this is the product of a hot, dry growing season. Fine tannins in abundance but by no means aggressive.
