The 2020 Lespault-Martillac is a gorgeous, effusive wine. Succulent dark plum, blood orange, menthol, licorice, mocha and blood orange all flesh out in this ample, beautifully resonant Graves. All the elements are so well-balanced. Plush contours and silky tannins add to its immense charm. What a beautiful wine this is. The aromatics are especially on point. Tasted two times.

The 2020 Lespault-Martillac has a tightly-wound bouquet, with blackberry and bilberry fruit, chimney hearth and a welcome touch of brine. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins that frame the slightly toasty, black pepper tinged black fruit. Quite structured with a sapid finish that urges you back for another sip. Worth seekig out, this is a very fine Pessac-Léognan.

Tight pencil lead, this is sleek and punchy, with cassis and bilberry fruit, all grilled up with dried herbs and cedar. Needs to soften over ageing but there is a lot to enjoy here.

The 2020 Lespault-Martillac, which is matured in 35% new oak, has an attractive nose with raspberry, cranberry and wild hedgerow scents. The oak here is neatly assimilated, straightforward and focused. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, lightly spiced on the entry with gentle grip, harmonious and quite persistent towards the finish. This is a delightful Pessac-Léognan with joie-de-vivre.
