"a terrific Pomerol in de making" - Jeb Dunnuck

Deep garnet-purple colored. Gorgeous notes of candied violets and juicy blueberries pop from the glass, giving way to hints of fresh raspberries, anise, and fertile loam. The light to medium-bodied palate is light on its feet and whispery with loads of elegant floral and red fruit nuances and a silky texture, supported by beautifully knit freshness, finishing long and perfumed. Very impressive!

Inky colour, and a purity of fruits on the aromatics, with well-teased out ripe plum and cassis character. Here the terroir is speaking over the vintage, delivering peony, iris, lilacs, fine tannic architecture, with salinity that flows through the acidity, giving juice without agressivity. First year official certified organic. 34hl/h yield, early deleafing in June, and waiting to harvest, until September 27 through to October 7. Density sorting here, plus cold soak, 55% new oak barrels.

The 2024 Clos du Clocher is attired in a special label celebrating 100 years since Jean-Baptiste Bourotte's father purchased the first plot in front of the church. It also represents the first officially organic vintage from this producer. This was picked from September 27 until October 6 at 34 hl/ha, then fermented in concrete and stainless steel tank. This has more fruit intensity on the nose than the Bonalgue, with black cherry, cassis and neatly integrated oak. The palate is medium-bodied, fresh and sapid, with plusher/fuller tannins, a keen thread of acidity and the 25% Cabernet Franc imparting a cracked black pepper note toward the finish. Enjoy this over the next two decades.

Pliant and expansive, the 2024 Clos du Clocher is another impressive wine from a château that has been on the rise in recent years. Inky blue fruit, lavender, licorice, spice and mocha fill out the layers. Ample and explosive, with superb depth, the 2024 has a ton to offer. Blue clay soils confer notable volume and resonance, something this vintage needed. Sweet floral notes reverberate on the finish.

Creamy vanilla and blue fruit on the nose, smells super charming, delicate fragrance and florality too. Clean and so pure, tangy and alive, this is really lifted and focussed on the red fruit spectrum with crisp acidity and a chalky tannins. Very much an aerial style, tannins are velvety but almost in the background with acidity at the fore. Feels confident but still not trying too hard. Zingy and juicy with an excellent saltiness. Super enjoyable. Almost a hint of sweetness on the finish as well as minty, liquorice and blood orange bitterness. Delicate. 5% press. 3.5pH. First year of organic certification and 100 years of family ownership with a special label to celebrate the occasion. Indigenous yeasts used for fermentation. Harvest started on the 27th September and finished on 7th October. Ageing 55% new oak.

Sporting a vivid purple hue, the 2024 Clos Du Clocher checks in as 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc that's resting in 55% new barrels, with a tiny amount in wine globes. Ripe black cherries, cassis, spring flowers, and violets all define the aromatics, and it hits the palate with medium-bodied richness, a pure, layered, elegant mouthfeel, and beautifully polished tannins. It's a terrific Pomerol in the making.

With a floral character, the wine exudes a violet-filled perfume, enriched with notes of black cherries, plums, cocoa, and truffle. On the palate, it is soft, supple, fresh, and creamy, showcasing a lively energy with layers of black raspberries, chocolate-topped strawberries, and cherries, leading to a soft, vibrant finish. With just a year or two in the bottle, it will be easy to enjoy for 15 or more years. It is important to note that 2024 marks the 100th anniversary of the property purchased by the family. Harvesting took place September 27 - October 5. The wine blends 75% Merlot with 25% Cabernet Franc. 13.2% ABV. Drink from 2028-2044.
