James Halliday, 96/100, Special Value
Brilliant straw-green; white peach, cashew and melon are brought together under a net of grapefruity acidity that refreshes the mouth and calls for another mouthful of a wine with attitude and class.
James Suckling, 92/100
Fresh and tangy chard with sliced-apple, white-peach and lemon aromas and flavors. Medium body. Hints of cream and yogurt to the vanilla undertones.
Wine Front, 96/100, jaargang 2016
This release is brilliant. But in a funky way. It’s up to its eyeballs in spent matchstick character. It’s riven with peach, grapefruit and citrus character, though there’s a fair amount of cracked wheat, toast, cedarwood and cashew-like flavour too. It talks a big game, and delivers on it. You have to like the funk, there’s no doubting or getting around it, but if you do: this is sensational.
Jancis Robinson, 17,5/20, jaargang 2016
Strong matchstick reduction with glossy texture, loads of burnt sugar character and delicious bitter orange fruit. Really stylised, with loads of spice and bonfire smoke lingering on the finish. Very few places can pull off this style of Chardonnay so successfully.
