Het domein van wijnmaker Bruce Dukes ontving vorig jaar uit handen van James Halliday, de nestor van de Australische wijnjournalistiek, de felbegeerde titel van 'Best Value Winery of the Year'. Na een of twee glazen van de Discovery Cabernet zult u vast en zeker beamen dat die titel welverdiend is. De wijn is elegant en intens tegelijk en biedt een heerlijke mix van cassis, kersen en frambozen, fraai ondersteund door rijpe zuren en ragfijne tannine. Klassiek van structuur en modern van geest, een bijzonder aantrekkelijk glas dat in het voor Margaret River excellente oogstjaar 2018 beter is dan ooit.

There’s a very fresh red-fruit nose here with raspberries and red cherries, as well as plums on offer. The palate is ripe and richly flavored, yet remains on a fresh red-fruit stance. Smooth finish.

Deep, dark red colour with a lacing of purple, and a brooding, deep, complex bouquet with a discreet high-note of peppermint. It's medium to full-bodied and slightly astringent in mouth-feel, juicy at the core. There's plenty of charm in there. A little age will soften it up a bit. It's quite grapy now, although the tannin structure is firm and stately and bodes well for its ageing. Very keen value.

Cabernet sauvignon van een domein dat vorig jaar door James Halliday, de autoriteit op het gebied van Australische wijn, werd gelauwerd als zijnde 'Best Value Winery of the Year'. Met dank aan de inspanningen van wijnmaker Bruce Duke en de hulp van een voor de regio buitengewoon goede oogstjaar. 'Oplegkwaliteit' wordt er links en rechts genoteerd. Doen? Kan. Maar nu al drinken is geen straf en resulteert in een ontdekkingsreis met een happy end lang rijpe cassis, bramenbedden, kersenboomgaarden, frambozenbakjes en een pepermuntjeswaas.
