De wijngaard En Caradeux is gelegen op een ideale helling met oostelijke blootstelling, wat zorgt voor een optimale rijping van de chardonnay-druiven. De bodem bestaat uit klei en kalksteen, wat bijdraagt aan de mineraliteit en complexiteit van de wijn.
De wijn is licht floraal, mineralig, royaal in fruit (dat wijst in de hoek van peer en witte perzik) en hout. Het mineralige van de wijn komt voort uit het stenige terroir, dat de bovenkant van de wijngaard geschikter maakt voor het groeien van witte druiven. Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate noemde deze jaargang “another strong performance for this steep, stony, east-facing site”.

The 2022 Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru En Caradeux Blanc is lovely, offering up notes of pear, crisp stone fruit and youthful reduction, followed by a medium to full-bodied satiny and incisive palate that's racy and chiseled. It's another strong performance for this steep, stony, east-facing site.

The lower part planted in 1986 is doing fine on SO4 rootstock, but the upper part on 161/49 needs to come out. The holding is at the Pernand end of the vineyard which is more suited to white. More lemon than lime in the colour. Pure white fruit on the nose, less floral than Le Clos. A fine steely backbone with good flesh on the bones. Very sound.
