De Rosso di Montalcino 2021 is volledig van Sangiovese en krijgt circa 24 maanden rijping in grote botti. In het glas geuren van marasca-kers, rode bes en bloedappelsien, aangevuld met rozenblaadjes, gedroogde kruiden, losse thee en een subtiele balsamico-toon. De textuur is slank en satijnachtig met fijne, krijtachtige tannine en levendige zuren; de finale is lang, ziltig en kruidig. Dit is een Rosso met serieuze structuur en potentieel: heerlijk vanaf de jeugd voor zijn energie, maar ook boeiend om 8–10 jaar te bewaren. Binnen Montalcino typeert Poggio di Sotto zich als een producent van traditionele, verfijnde Sangiovese, waarbij zelfs de Rosso wordt opgevoed met de ambitie en precisie die men elders vaak voor Brunello bewaart.

Here again there is the sweet red cherry of Sangiovese from the south of the commune, in this case complemented by precise notes of fresh mint and oregano. The multi-faceted palate has great fruit concentration and the depth and texture which comes from long maceration, followed by more than two years in 20hl and 30hl barrels. Infinitely long and refined on the finish, this is a wine of great elegance from what looks like an outstanding vintage.

Bright ruby red with purple nuances. An elegant and expressive bouquet with notes of sweet, juicy cherries, juniper, saddle leather and forest floor. Glides silkily and with finesse on the palate, precise fruit expression, finely woven tannins and a long, persistent finish.

Pouring a jeweled ruby color, the 2021 Rosso Di Montalcino offers up more compact aromas of black raspberries, wet stones, violets, and sweet earth. It's medium-bodied but has good extract and richness in this vintage, with ripe, structured tannins and a long finish. A rich vintage for this wine, it's going to have some real aging potential and drink well over the next 15 years.

Restrained raspberries, leather, violets and cherry pits with rusty minerality. Supple palate with a full body, tension from lifted acidity and dense, velvety tannins. Precise and lingering in the finish. One of the best of its category in a promising vintage. Drinkable now, but will age well.
