‘Highly recommended if you can track down one of the 1,950 bottles.’

Deze 2021 Granietsteen komt van een single vineyard waar de Chenin Blanc in 1978 is aangeplant. Dit is de eerste jaargang waarbij de nadruk ligt op rijping op beton, niet zo zeer op hout. Neal Martin: ‘Highly recommended if you can track down one of the 1,950 bottles

From Stellenbosch grapes. 50% left on the skins for 48 hours. The nose shows a little reduction before peach, naartjie and herbs while the palate shows great depth of fruit plus nicely integrated acidity, just the right amount of bitterness to the finish. Good detail and balance.

From a vineyard planted on granite soils in 1978, with a maritime climate. These low-yielding old bush vines have produced a lovely focused wine. Taut, compressed nose is quite mineral and leads to a focused palate with pear and citrus fruit, as well as some green apple. Some structure, and also good acidity.)

From Sinai Hill, southern Stellenbosch. An old Chenin blanc single vineyard from 1978. Planted on South-East facing contours as dry-farmed bushvines rooted on weathered in-situ granite soils. Overlooking the shores of False Bay a mere 3.5km away. Aged in a larger format concrete egg-shaped vessel on its fermented fine lees for 9 months.vely nose with pressed yellow flowers, pithy pear, lanolin and a very subtle, flor-like scent. The palate is beautifully balanced with a fine bead of acidity, harmonious with yellow plum and nectarine, though it is the texture that really defines this Chenin Blanc. Highly recommended if you can track down one of the 1,950 bottles.
