Vert de Vin
The nose offers power. It reveals notes of blackberry, cassis and wild strawberry associated with fine touches of gray pepper, graphite as well as discreet/fine touches of spices, mild tobacco and hints of caramelization. The palate is well-balanced, precise and offers a good freshness, juiciness, tension as well as a good volume. On the palate this wine expresses notes of blackberry, black cherry and more slightly of raspberry associated with fine touches of dark chocolate, coffee and toasted. Tannins are well-built. Good length.
The 2017 Branas Grand Poujeaux was cropped at 20hl/ha and matured in 60% new oak. It has a fragrant and appealing bouquet with blackberry, red plum and light mocha notes that gain intensity with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a fine bead of acidity, slightly lactic in texture with veins of dark chocolate towards the finish. This Moulis has a pleasing tendency to over-perform, an estate that rarely lets you down.
Aromas of blueberry and cassis here with light herbs and some oak spice adding interest. The palate is succulent and juicy with a smooth and layered build of fine tannin.
