****: veel hout en opmaak, daaronder fruit, kersen en pruimen, peperig en vlezig
86-88: The Château Villemaurine 2014 is a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc aged in 60% new oak. It has a simple black cherry and blueberry-scented bouquet that needs a little more personality (the wine has not been blended yet.) The palate is better with saturated tannin, soft in the mouth, plush and rounded with a sweet cassis-tinged finish. It is certainly much improved on the Villemaurine of old, though I would have preferred more precision and terroir-expression coming through.
